Austin Badger Committee and Coordinator Positions - 2012
To inquire about positions or if you have an idea for a leadership position, please contact us and
let us know what you're interested in (in the comments section). We will be meeting in late March
to establish roles for 2012.
1. Program Committee – Arranges the content of the year’s meetings in cooperation with
the officers and directors; is responsible for executing the plans for each meeting, including
arranging a location, reservations, set-up, and registration.
2. Communication – Responsible for conducting the annual, multifaceted campaign to tell
all area alumni about the chapter and to encourage their involvement.
3. Young Alumni – Welcomes recent graduates to the area; organizes events geared to
their interests including job networking and social events; ensures their representation on the
board and in committees.
4. Scholarship / High School Outreach Chair – Directs chapter activities that provide
scholarship funds for students who attend UW; selects and awards scholarships to deserving
area students who are or will be attending UW – with awards being matched by the WAA (up to
$8,000 annually).
5. Executive Committee – Consists of chapter officers (ie. President, Treasurer, etc);
leads the chapter on the local level, and communicates and interacts with alumni association by
sending delegates to meetings and nominates members for WAA offices.
6. Publicity (PR) Committee – Responsible for maintaining, handling, and publicizing all
chapter news; is familiar with local media resources.
7. Special Events – Arranges a variety of events and programs throughout the year; may
be divided into subcommittees for different types of events, such as sport outings, community
service projects, cultural / lifelong learning events, family events, etc.
8. Newsletter Committee – Solicits and coordinates newsletter content, works with WAA to
publish newsletter (mailing)
9. Web Coordinator – Oversees UWAlumni.com/Austin and AustinBadgers.com and
updates sites accordingly.
10. Volunteer Coordinator – serves as contact for individuals interested in volunteering,
determines interest level, and matches people to volunteer assignments, works with committees
to determine volunteer needs for different events and services, and maintains interest inventory
database.
11. Networking / Job Chair – responsible for maintaining a running and updated list of
open positions (entry, mid level, etc) at Austin area employers; will ideally keep in contact with
alumni in the area who are constantly looking to fill roles with qualified UW alumni.
12. Club Historian / Photography Chair - responsible for documenting and taking photos
at all major events like Founder's Day and Brat Fest.
